Modern [cartridge] pistols for rent

There have been a boatload of laws passed during the past decade that have made the availability of replicas of modern (post 1880's) firearms ever tighter. Half of the items shown below are simply no longer being imported - we can't get any more than what we have.

In addition, certain cities and states have restrictions on who can receive modern replicas, even non-firing ones. Most can only be shipped to established theatres or educational institutions.

If you need specific modern guns that we don't carry, follow this link for the phone numbers of some places that can help.

("what kind of blanks do I need?")

("what kind of holsters do I need?")

F50 - COLT PEACEMAKER - the typical cowboy revolvers, and the firing version works in single-action just as the originals did (you must pull the hammer back before pulling the trigger for each shot) and you cannot fan the hammer, so you need an active thumb or must use two hands. The prop versions are mostly fused replicas with no moving parts. Grip and frame color may vary.

prop – [12.00]     22 cal blank-fire – [32.50]

F53 - BLACKHAWK - on the other hand, we have taken the very reliable N.E.F. starter pistols and rebuilt the grip and barrel to give a western profile, but firing inexpensive 22 caliber blackpowder blanks. Fires in both single and double action (squeeze the trigger - it goes bang). [The barrels are usually a bit loose - secure, but a slight wobble. Nothing we can do about it.]     22 cal blank-fire – [52.44]

F51 - WELLS FARGO - Some agents in the US needed a large caliber revolver, but could be worn without drawing so much attention to itself. This "snub-nose" version of the Colt Peacemaker fits the bill. Grip and frame color may vary.     prop – [12.00]        22 cal blank-fire – [32.50]

F54 - SMITH & WESSON "RUSSIAN" - the Russian Imperial Army purchased thousands of these weapons, and Russian high society purchased hundreds more, but the gun was produced here and was popular throughout Europe and the eastern U.S. from 1877 to the 1920’s. N.E.F. frame, so again, very reliable, but the longer barrels tend to be a bit loose     22 cal blank-fire – [46.89]

G05 - BICYCLE IVER-JOHNSON - revolvers of the turn of the century look much the same as they do now, but directors don’t believe me. At least this model has an "old" look. Grip and frame color may vary.  N.E.F. frame. 22 cal blank-fire – [43.56]

G06 - WEBLEY MkIV - a good blank-fire model with a European flair, these are based on the English military sidearm of WWI. N.E.F. frame. 22 cal blank-fire – [52.44]

    F45 - TWO-SHOT POCKET DERRINGER - only 5 inches long. Non-firing only. prop – [7.00]

G07 - BRITISH BULLDOG -  [extremely limited availability] these are prop only [no moving parts] but still a lovely replica of the popular self-defense weapon of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. prop – [15.00]

G08- BRIT BULL – [limited availability] Since the demand is high for the above gun to have a blank-fire equivalent, we have done our best to try and comply. 22 caliber 22 cal blank-fire – [40.00]

G21 – NEW ENGLAND STARTER PISTOL [N.E.F.] - exceptional reliability. Without exaggeration, the finest starter pistol ever made. If you need an off-stage noise maker, this is it. Squeeze the trigger, it goes bang. 22 cal. or 32 cal.– rent it for $25.40     -      or buy a brand new 22 caliber pistol for only $127.00

G22- DEFENDER –  Trying to come up with a reasonable, firing, small frame modern revolver. This is what we have right now. Each grip and barrel are different. . 22 caliber 22 cal blank-fire – [42.00]

Modern realistic revolver replicas are getting harder to come by: they are made in Europe and many US laws restrict their purchase, use, and transportation. The firing versions are also less reliable than the guns that we can build using the NEF starter pistol. So these guns below, although they look great, carry their own drawbacks. Read carefully before ordering. Parts are not available for the following revolvers. If you break any part of it, you have purchase the entire gun.

G24  – DETECTIVE SNUB-NOSE – Ok, ok, we tried removing these from our line-up, but people got upset.  This style, unchanged since 1915, is the best overall look for a small modern pocket pistol. And they actually fire in 22 cal blank-fire  These are the horrible Precise brand, "Olympic 6" model that are found nationwide. So we have them back and rent them for just – [$15.50]

(or you can buy one for only $27

In the interest of full disclosure:   This model does not lock the revolving chamber into place, so misfires can happen at any time, even on brand new guns. It is both designed and built of especially poor quality, and they break down very quickly. At some point in the run you'll probably need to pull the trigger twice to get one shot. For piece of mind, have a back up sound ready. Whether you get this from us or from another company, you will have difficulty with it. It is unreliable - around here we call it the defective snub-nose.

Ok, now forget all of that for a moment, because we do have another version of the Detective snub-nose, but with a meatier frame and fires 9mm blanks. It is a very reliable gun, but 9mm is extraordinarily loud. Chest-pounding, ear-splitting loud. If you want 'em, we have em -  G28  9mm blank-fire – $ 16.75

We also have prop only, non-firing, waive around pieces -  G23 – $ 14.80

                                                                      with hammer, nickel finish  G26 – $ 15.00

We also have several of the full-sized snub-nose props on which the hammer has been broken off. Luckily there are revolvers sold today which have recessed or hidden hammers, so the look is legit.

hammerless prop G25 –  only $ 5.00

hammerless, nickel finish prop G27 –  only $ 12.00

G35 – PATROL REVOLVER – 9mm blank-fire . It's a good look for any time a large revolver is needed, with its big grip and 4" barrel. But 9mm is a huge amount of sound, physically painful to experience up close. – [22.75]

If you just need a non-firing prop, we have a few. But please note: most of what we have are "hammerless", meaning that actors have dropped them and the hammers have broken off.

    G30 – hammerless prop, black – [12.00]

             G33 – prop nickel finish, hammerless – [18.00]

Even  fewer in stock are the same patrol revolver replicas with the hammer intact, but still non-firing -

G31 – prop, black – [18.00]

G32 – prop nickel finish – [28.00]

G37 – S&W CHIEF REVOLVER – 9mm blank-fire . Smith and Wesson tended to always make its revolvers with smaller than normal grips. Please note again that this 9mm, not 22 caliber – [45.25]

True blank-firing semi-auto blank guns are fast becoming unavailable in the US, mainly because of legal restrictions in more and more states. We no longer provide the 8mm blank-firing versions of the pistol models below as they have proven to be so unreliable and the sound of the blank so deafening. On the other hand, our own 22 caliber blank-fire replicas, built around the superb NEF frame, are very reliable.

G14 – "BROOM HANDLE" MAUSER - many versions of this German semi-automatic were produced from 1896 through WWI.    prop – [19.00]

    G15 – "BROOM HANDLE" , blank fire - [very limited availability] This is our 22 caliber blank-fire version of the above G29. 22 cal blank-fire – [58.00]

G17 - LUGAR P-08 - also called the Parabellum, very Nazi in look. No moving parts. (this is the gun used in Of Mice and Men).     prop – [28.00]

G18 – LUGAR, blank fire – [very limited availability] actually has a reliable revolver dressed with Lugar grip and barrel. 22 cal blank-fire – [52.44]

    G19 - WALTHER MILITARY P-38 - WWII Axis officer issue.     prop – [16.00]

G40 - US COMBAT COLT SEMI-AUTO 1911 – also misnamed an automatic, a 45 or a 9mm, this design goes back to 1911 and was the standard issue sidearm for most US armed forces from before WWI to beyond the Vietnam war.    prop  – [18.00]         G41 - nickel finish - [28.00]

G45 - M92 SEMI-AUTO – even the real ones are prone to jamming and misfiring, yet this update to the above 1911 model remains popular among police departments and gangs because they can shoot more often before re-loading (although revolvers can actually shoot faster and more accurately).    prop – [24.00]

    G44 - M92 CHROME – just like the regular M92, but in a nickel-plated finish    prop –  [35.00]

    G46 - SMALL FRAME SEMI-AUTO - for that James Bond look.     prop – [28.00]        G47 - prop - chrome – [32.00]

G42 - GLOCK – the latest standard issue sidearm for military and police.    prop – [35.00]

G48 – NATO "SEMI-AUTO" - Want something that won’t jam, won’t deafen the audience, and uses inexpensive .22 caliber blanks? Yes it compromises on looks, but squeeze the trigger it will go "bang", which is very comforting.    22 cal blank-fire – [41.67]

G49 - SPECIAL OPS PISTOL- A little bit different than the NATO above, with a more exposed barrel tip and more shrouding to hide the revolving chamber ... but the same reliable NEF starter pistol providing the gunshot.    22 cal blank-fire – [49.63]

K73 – PDW, Lasa – the initials stand for "personal defense weapon", and these automatic pistols are usually of very small caliber in an attempt to reduce recoil. prop only – [24.00]

K71 - TECH 47 - another blank-fire weapon. Although hefty, it is still considered a pistol since it is meant to be fired with one hand only.     22 caliber blank-fire – [62.20]
