USITT Expo 2012 special offer

How do I place an order?

Hafted Weapon Rental

Most infantry weapons were modifications of simple farming or fishing tools, and proved invaluable when defending against, or even attacking, a mounted knight.

We usually send out the steel heads already mounted on full length oak or rattan shafts, to make for seven foot polearms. But you we can also put them on shorter staffs if you want them as single-hand weapons.

[Prices are for the first 30 days and are subject to change. For more info see ...  rental prices ]

[oversized shipping surcharges  - very expensive - may apply on items over 48" tall]

    H28 - TRIDENT – Roman, 6 feet overall.   $19.20

H20 - RUSTIC COMBAT HALBERD - over 7 feet tall and fully fight worthy –   $25.00

H27 - BARDICHE - a big two foot blade on a three foot shaft, a traditional infantry weapon of eastern Europe - (This polearm can be mounted on a six foot shaft, although it was traditionally a four foot weapon, fought with as an ax or heavy sabre) –   $25.00

We know that the bardiche makes a wonderful full-length weapon, but try this TWO-HEADED BARDICHE (H29)  for even more fun! ) –  $33.50

H24 - ITALIAN CEREMONIAL HALBERD - a decorative dress piece only, sometimes called the Swiss Guard halberd, still in use for some court occasions in Europe. prop –   $22.00  [warning: very expensive oversized shipping charges will apply]

H22 - CORSECA - Italian from the 1500’s. A form which tries to combined the attributes of the spear, pike, and polearm.   $17.50

H25 – BHUTAN  – an exotic looking weapon, the back edge pattern not only has ceremonial significance but does some nasty damage as well.  $25.00

H31 - SHAMSHIR - great as an exotic polearm.  $25.00

H26 – ENGLISH BILL – combine a cutting machete with a pulling hook and mount it on a six foot pole, and suddenly an infantryman can take on a mounted knight. $25.00

QUARTERSTAFF – 72", in stiff oak or flexible rattan. Rattan is one inch in diameter and weighs one pound; oak is a hair thinner but weighs 2 pounds. Rattan will show some shredding long before it breaks; oak gives you no warning. Oak staffs give you great control; rattan is very forgiving in case of an accidental contact.
H50 - rattan
 $5.00
H51 - red oak
 $4.80

H34 - ACHILLES - The basic rustic spear of warfare has remained unchanged in the 6,000 years of its known existence, and it’s a good guess that it goes back much further. 6’ tall, not pretty but fully fight worthy.    $10.83

Did you know that... spears of course were thrown at the enemy, but not always. Vikings and Saxons used them as hand-to-hand weapons only, and many other societies used them both ways. Whether for throwing or stabbing, spears stay within four to nine feet in overall length. Pikes are different weapons entirely. Although they look like skinny spears, pikes were used by infantry to hold off an enemy charge. Never thrown, the butt end was planted in the ground, braced by the trailing foot, and the sharp end pointed toward the incoming charge. Pikes ranged in length from ten to twenty feet long, the most common being 15 feet. Pikes, for this reason, are rarely seen on stage.

H37 - FLAME - This steel fantasy piece can be rented with a 4 to 6 foot pole    $11.00  or for additional savings, just rent the head and fix it to your own pole   $6.00  and you'll save a bundle on shipping

H35 - PILUM - this style of Roman spear a had long, thin iron neck. (wooden pole not shown) Once imbedded in an enemy shield, it would be impossible to simply hack-off the pole, so the enemy shield became heavy and useless. If, on the other hand, it bounced off of a shield, the long neck would bend, making it useless for the enemy to use. [$11.00]

H39 - WHALER'S HARPOON - Sometimes the fights in pirate shows can get a little limiting with just cutlasses. Throwing in a harpoon can add many fun moves. Rattan shaft and steel neck  [$11.00]

H56 - MOP - Great for comic fights. Fully fight worthy oak shaft.  [$8.00]

 H18 - SCYTHE, Traditional -

This is a real scythe, with a 26" blade and is 62"inches overall. [$16.00]

Because of its unusual shape, additional shipping charge applies, even when dismantled.

H19 - SCYTHE, Modified - since the traditional scythe is sometimes difficult to handle, we made this one sporting a 22" blade and is 60 inches tall.  [$16.00]
